An update from the Instagram blog about it's intentions for your photo's

Just came across this update on the instagram blog regarding the uproar over them supposedly planning on selling users photos.  An interesting read - do you believe them? Should we trust them? Should we as individuals trust any social networking site and what they do with our content?  Have you read the terms and conditions to all the social networking/media sites you have signed up too or just blindly ticked the accept box without reading anything?

Time for us all to sit up and take more notice if we have not done so already.

Do you want video ads autoplayed in feeds on facebook?

The following article reports that facebook is looking at playing ads through our feeds - autoplay videos.  What is your opinion?

http://www.theage.com.au/technology/technology-news/facebook-to-roll-out-autoplay-video-ads-by-april-report-20121219-2bmdm.html

Instagram claims right to sell your photos - how long will you keep using this application?

Excerpt from the full article, below which is scary enough - 16th of January 2013 Instagram will have the ability to sell your photos as they have changed their rules - how long will you keep using instagram I wonder?

Instagram is facing a backlash as users debate whether to dump the smartphone photo-sharing service due to a rule change giving it a royalty-free, worldwide license to posted images.

Changes to the privacy policy and terms of service at Facebook-owned Instagram taking effect on January 16 include wording that lets people's pictures be used by advertisers at either online venue.

If you have not caught up with the trend of using this site, then have a read of this from Wikipedia.  It explains it well and in the grand scheme of social networking it is relatively new.  A great way to create your own custom boards of photos and share them with others, even with the ability of repinning those pictures you like from your friends.

Drive Brilliant Hyundai - The i30 Premium - Our Review.

We were fortunate enough to take the Hyundai i30 Premium on a 3 day road trip from Melbourne to Narooma and back again.
The weather on the trip took us through rain, slippery roads and some beautiful sunny times with perfect road conditions.
On the trip we drove on freeways, straight roads and some incredibly windy roads with some tricky hairpin turns, that of course one was careful driving through.
The i30 Premium handled every road condition that we had to go through and was so easy to drive through all conditions we were thrilled and as the driver made the enjoyment of driving fantastic.
As there were four of us on the road trip we were at first concerned that maybe the i30 Premium would not be comfortable nor take all of our luggage.  How wrong we were.  The i30 Premium was deceiving from the outside and as we got organised we found the boot space most spacious holding all of our luggage with ease.  Once all in the car we all felt very comfortable with space for those in the front and back seats with ease. We also realised that the car would be excellent when you go shopping with the floor rail that helps keep all in place.  No more rolling around of your shopping or other items, unlike our vehicles were we find our shopping out of their bags and items rolling all over the place.
The seats in the car are well designed and the front seats have many features which meant to us that the car had been research well to provide the ultimate comfort.  Cushioned and contoured for extra comfort.  We played with all the controls for the seats, the heating and the effective climate controlled air conditioning providing comfort for all passengers in the vehicle whether in the front or back seats.
The Hyundai i30 Premium has a top safety rating and all of the safety features gave us confidence that should an accident occur we would be safer than in most vehicles, 7 air bags amazing.
Technology in the car provided has been effectively designed and well thought out to ensure the ease of use.  We all enjoyed the ability to use blue tooth with the press of a few buttons, allowing for the connection of up to 5 mobile phones, allowing each of us to connect our phones.  We also used the bluetooth function to stream music from our phones.  Again with a few basic set up instructions the ease of use surprised us all.  As none of us have this sort of function in our own vehicles we totally enjoyed the experience.
The reversing camera was a fantastic addition making the parking experience much easier than in a vehicle without.  The satellite navigation system again was easy to set up for each leg of our journey and kept us on track, accessing the fastest route possible without us grabbing a Melway's to see where we had to go and trying to navigate from a book of maps.
As we had not read up on the manual to a great extent as the driver I got very excited about the rain sensing wipers.  I did not know what was happening to start with as I only hit the lever once to start the wipers and then found as the rain became light or heavy the wipers would adjust the speed they were going without me doing anything else.  What a wonderful feature I found this to be. Allowing me to concentrate on driving without constantly manually adjusting the wiper speed.
We were fortunate to have the i30 Premium with diesel fuel.  Wow what a difference this made to our trip.  The fuel consumption was brilliant, making this a most affordable car to run.
Whilst the Hyundai i30 Premium is stacked with many more features the above ones were the most prominent in all of our minds and allowed us all to enjoy one of the most comfortable driving and road trip experiences one could ever ask for.  The car would appeal to all generations and for us made a wonderful family experience.
We all loved the Hyundai i30 Premium and we would all recommend that if you are in the market for a new vehicle that you go to your local Hyundai dealer and check it out for yourselves.  We are confident that you will not be disappointed.
Thank you to Hyundai for providing the i30 Premium for our road trip.  It was an excellent choice for us and helped to make our road trip 'Brilliant'.

Hyundai Drive Brilliant Road Trip - Montage of Day One - Aspendale to Eden

Day one began as we headed off from home in Aspendale early in the morning, in the Hyundai i30 Premium,  to drive to Bairnsdale for our first adventure Bungee Trampolining.

We had hoped for a suf lesson in Lakes Entrance but the weather did not permit.  We had a great look around Lakes Entrance, enjoying the fun of a fair on the foreshore and water sports being displayed.

From Lakes Entrance we drove to Eden where we stayed and had a brilliant meal at Mystique.

We hope you enjoy this clip and have a good laugh at our antics on the Bungee Trampoline.  We have all had a good laugh at ourselves - much fun had by all.

Hyundai Drive Brilliant Road Trip - Montage of our time in Narooma

We had a ball in Narooma, just the scenery is enough to make you smile and feel great to feel alive.
We all had the opportunity to go snorkeling with the fur seals out on Montague Island and on the way back our skipper Ben decided to throw in a treat for us, deep sea fishing.  Yes one got away but two fish were caught, a scorpion fish ( strange looking fish but we were told still great for eating and a Queen Snapper.
What a treat, lots of laughs at each of us trying to reel in the fish and just the whole new experience for all of us deep sea fishing.  Thanks skipper Ben for adding in this experience to our incredible Brilliant Road Trip.

Enjoy

Drive Brilliant Given Team Activity Three - Community/Social/Entertainment

This recommended activity was to tell you all about my Dream Team.

My Dream Team was comprised of Mia Obrien, Eligiusz Gomularz and Gabriellene Pi'ilani Laffy (Squeekz).

As it turned out I could not have selected a better Dream Team.

Mia Obrien
I met Mia through Gabriellene Pi'ilani Laffy (Squeekz), we had known each other for a very short time, but we instantly bonded and the Brilliant Drive Road Trip brought us even closer.  Mia had never been to all of the places we travelled to or engaged in any of the adventures/activities.
Mia is a generous and kind hearted person, a single mother and she deserved a treat.  Mia also brought along her talents of being a great photographer, a brilliant sense of humor, an outlook to give anything a go at least once, a positive outlook on life, wonderful social skills and also a great organiser, keeping us all on track and wow how good was she at packing our luggage.  Thank you Mia.

Eligiusz Gomularz
As strange to some as it may seem Eligiusz is my ex husband and the father of my two sons Zane and Zach.  We have known each other since I was 16 and I am now 50 - if you do the math that is a significant amount of time. Over the years no matter what we have remained the best of friends.  Eligiusz has an amazing sense of humor which is one of the reasons I selected him, he is also fantastic with people and helped us to socialise with people we met along our Drive Brilliant Road Trip.  Eligiusz is quite a technophobe, but on the trip he became less so learning how to use the technology such as the Navigation system and the Bluetooth technology with ease.  Eligiusz also has a great sense of adventure and he too was willing to engage in all of the adventures and activities.

Gabriellene Pi'ilani Laffy (Squeekz)

I have known Squeekz for approximately 5 years.  We met through her sister in law a great Australian singer Mae Parker who I have known for around 7 years and have become wonderful friends with.  Squeekz is a wiz when it comes to photography and video which certainly added to our Dream Team giving us the ability to ensure we captured the very essence of our Road Trip.  Squeekz is also a great innovator and provided many suggestions along the way.  A friendly lady, with a big heart and again an incredible sense of humor.  Squeekz also has incredible social skills and as we traveled and stopped along the way she engaged members of each town, village, city in our activities.  On top of all of that Squeekz had never been to the areas we visited on our road trip and I wanted her to see more of Australia, especially the incredible scenic areas.  A girl filled with a love of adventure I knew that she would engage in all of the activities selected with gusto and she did.

Why we made a Brilliant Dream Team:-)

Each person in the team was unique, in personality and talents, all of which added and complimented the Dream Team.  All were willing to engage in each of the set down adventures and activities, allowing us all to have new experiences together.
Along the way we had to make some changes to our activities due to weather conditions and whilst disappointed, we worked well together to find other adventures to ensure we made the most of the trip, usually through our interactions with our hosts for our activities.  As a result the Dream Team added in mini golf, deep sea fishing and going to extra places not on our itinerary such as Cobargo and Bermagui.
As individuals we all are social creatures and thus enjoyed our interactions with the various communities we visited and had a sensational time meeting and greeting new people along the way.
Our Hyundai Bear who we named iBear was a great addition to our team too, as with him in tow on our adventures and activities, people became more receptive to us and allowed us to engage on a more social and fun level.
The outcome for all of us on the Hyundai Brilliant Road Trip was that we all bonded and became the best of friends, believe it or not we did not have one altercation along the way.  We worked as a Dream Team discussing what we were doing or could do and made democratic decisions that we were all thrilled with us.
At the end of the day the 4 of us have vowed to make more road trips together and the planning has already begun.

You can watch and listen to more about each of us and the trip on YouTube at:

This task involved testing out the Bluetooth technology on the Hyundai i30 Premium.

Spotify, streaming our favourite tunes using the technology

Definition - What does Spotify mean?

Spotify is a new digital music service that enables users to remotely source millions of different songs on various record labels from a laptop, smartphone or other device. This subscription-based service has been available in some countries since 2008. It can run on a Windows, Macintosh or Linux operating system, and is supported by iPhone, Android and Blackberry devices.

Explaination of  Spotify

One of the main features of Spotify is the ability to share music with others. Spotify users can send music via social media platforms or through email, although some types of music sharing require the recipient to be a Spotify member.

Spotify also addresses the limitations of lack of access to Wi-Fi services through its offline mode provision. Depending on the user’s account type and other factors, Spotify can sync certain amounts of music, in playlists, to a device so that even when the user is disconnected or offline, he or she will be able to hear those selected songs. This and other exclusive features make Spotify a unique service in the very new field of subscription-based digital music hosting.

Using the audio streaming mode we we able to play our favourite songs that we could bop along to on our road trip.  This was an easy process once we had the unit in the car and our mobile phones connected.  The unit in the car makes it easy to set up and once done you too can you ride along on your journey listening to your favourite road trip music. Even is you have never used Bluetooth technology please do not fear it in the Hyundai i30 Premium model.  You will have no trouble hooking up.

The instructions are basic as follows.

Activation the audio streaming mode
  • Connect the unit and your phone before activating the audio streaming mode
  • Press MEDIA repeatedly until "BT" appears on the screen
  • To pause playback press the play/pause symbol. Touch the play/pause again the resume playback
  • To skip tracks touch the forward/back symbol to select the previous or next track
  • To fast forward/rewind
  • Select and hold down the back arrow to rewind.
  • Select the forward arrow to fast forward

How the technology is practical while on the go

The Bluetooth Technology in the i30 Premium provided us with an easy and SAFE way whilst driving to make and receive call and play our favourite tunes.  We always talk about safety when driving, to reduce accidents especially from people playing with their mobile phones when behind the wheel.
The Bluetooth Technology in the Hyundai i30 Premium has obviously been well thought out and researched to ensure for easy use, safe use and use for enjoyment without the risks of taking your eyes off the road.
Not having Bluetooth Technology in my own vehicle I now know the benefits of its use and will certainly ensure that any vehicle ( and yes after my/our experience a Hyundai is what I/we will be looking at first) I may get in the future definitely is one that has this wonderful technology.

Our Spotify top ten playlist

https://www.facebook.com/music/playlist/Drive-Brilliant-Playlist/375463249212699

With the Spotify Application on my phone I was able to stream the playlist using the BlueTooth Technology in the Hyundai i30 Premium.
Our first play list for the trip was made up of primarily good old rock and roll music.  I and my road crew were between the ages of 50 and 60 thus many of the younger generations music just did not suit us.
You will also see that the majority of the music is from our good old Australian Artist with a few overseas artist mixed in.  As we all knew the songs included we all had a good old sing along, as we traveled on our Hyundai Brilliant Drive Road Trip.  In some cases we had a good old laugh especially with Eligiuz (Alex) singing along the best he could - we told him not to give up his day job.  Not that any of us are great singers, Eligiuz (Alex) certainly kept us entertained.
